AlanDick have been awarded the prestigious contract for new Greenfield site radar towers for Stansted, Gatwick and St Annes. The towers form part of the 10 year RSS program between NATS & Raytheon Systems Ltd. The towers, at 25m, 26m and 22m respectfully, have been specifically designed to meet the stringent deflection specifications for the S band PSR and SSR systems. For those technical - the towers will be of a tapered design with a base face width of 9m and a platform face width of 6m. Deflection is below 0.033 degrees torsional and 0.01 degrees in twist.

The design and detail drafting of the towers has been carried out at the company’s headquarters in Cheltenham which is also hosting the fabrication activities due for completion for the Stansted tower in March.

The 3 towers are all scheduled to be fabricated and installed within 2010.
