Other Radar Tower Deliveries
Other radar Tower deliveries
Q4 will see the final delivery and installation of an SSR tower for Raytheon Systems Ltd at Brize Norton.
The tower, a standard AD4600 from the existing portfolio of AD designs is a parallel legged structure with an integrated pedestal room blow the antenna platform level. It will house Raytheon’s standard MSSR equipment and provide Raytheon with a convenient reference site.
Q4 will also see the installation of a replacement radar platform at Belfast International Airport for Thales ATM. During the initial tender Thales looked to use rapid delivery as their edge to win the work at Belfast & Cardiff and looked to AlanDick to make use of the existing radar tower merely replacing the platform to save valuable time in the site deployment. Modifying existing structures is a notoriously tricky task and to ensure minimal risk of on-site issues AD carried out several surveys and fully trial erected the replacement radar platform at the Cheltenham fabrication plant.
And Radomes
Raytheon Canada took delivery of another of our standard 16m radomes late last year. The radome, for installation into Oman, will be the 8th of this size & geometry following earlier deliveries for the UK, Middle East, Hungary and Canada. The 16m diameter is a proven design with manufacture & tooling available in both the UK and Dubai.
Meanwhile Indra continues to play a major part in the business activities of AlanDick with an 11.8m radome being installed into Uruguay. Indra has AlanDick radomes installed in Guatemala, Libya, Ecuador, Bosnia, Uganda and across Spain. Meanwhile radome 2 of a 4 radome contract with Thales Australia will be installed mid 2010 – the 11.8m radome is another of the standard sizes from the UK or Dubai.
As part of a 3 year framework contract with the UK Met Office another 6.1m weather radar radome will be installed in Cornwall in March. This takes to 6 the number of AlanDick radomes in the Met Office portfolio. Satellite marine radomes have also continued apace with over 100 small radomes delivered over the last year for deployment on marine vessels around the world.
And Moving to Cellular
Although the UK market for Cellular new site rollout is slow whilst mergers and joint ventures are finalised between the main operators our upgrade work continues. OPCS continue to use our highly valued and efficient logistics and storage facility as well as continuing to procure site upgrades. Design checks and geotechs are numerous for various operators and demonstrate a bright future in the medium term.
During the slow down the design team has taken advantage of the time and is currently updating existing designs and developing new lower cost structures to suit the changing needs of the market. Call us to find out what we can do for you!
