CMCA Ltd was formed in 1998 specifically to design and build a range of military systems required by the RAF, all proving to be very successful, and extremely reliable. The company has two product divisions; one covering the design, manufacture, supply and support of diesel engine-driven electrical power generators, Auxiliary Power Units (APU’s), and electrical power distributions systems, and the other a whole range of specialist military air-conditioning and dehumidification equipment. In all of the above areas, expert technical back-up and support is provided to the highest possible standards.

The CMCA Ltd. UK Head Office and manufacturing facility is located at Crook, in County Durham in the north east of England, and the UK Southern Office is situated in Hereford. The premises at Crook are extremely modern, situated on a 1½-acre site, with secure perimeter fencing and provide a clean environment for research, design, development and testing, as well as creating an efficient production facility for products of all sizes. Further under-cover secure storage is also available in the adjacent building.

In 2003, the company also established an office in Santiago, Chile, through which major projects with the Chilean Government and Chilean Armed Forces have been secured. This Santiago office also allows CMCA to test its products in some of the most extreme environments on earth.

CMCA Ltd. has the expertise and equipment capability to carry out research, development, design and production, not just of vehicle-mounted and free-standing electrical power generation, electrical distribution, lighting, air-conditioning, dehumidification, heating and cooling equipment, but also vehicle and mobility systems. The latest 3D modelling engineering software is used for concept design and analysis, and in-house testing covers electrical function and safety, limited EMC, hot and cold chamber testing, audio noise testing, and drop and topple/robustness testing. The close proximity of moorland enables the company to carry out off-road mobility testing, and additional in-field audio noise testing.

Military Air-conditioners and Dehumidifiers

CMCA’s Ltd’s personnel, have a long history of providing high quality military air-conditioners, mobile generators, mobile lighting systems and Auxiliary Power Units (APU’s) to the UK, NATO and International defence forces, supplying extremely robust and highly reliable equipment for the Joint Forces Allied Command Head Quarters (JFACHQ), as well as front line aircraft cooling, and radar and communications systems cooling. The Chilean Army uses over 200 packaged CMCA air-conditioning/filtration units on their fleet of Leopard 1 main battle tanks, and several other military armoured vehicles. They draw on unrivalled experience to produce modern, state of the art, efficient systems, which offer the customer the ultimate combination of performance, versatility, reliability, and above all, value for money.

Military Generators and Auxiliary Power Units (APU’s)

In addition to the standard ranges of air-conditioning and power generation equipment, all types of other power products are supplied, such as Generators from a few watts up to 1Mw, On-board vehicle Auxiliary Power Units (APU’s) (AC and DC), Pumps, Welders, Mobile battery chargers and 28v dc generators, Aircraft starting units and Ground Power Units (GPU’s), Mobile Lighting Towers and units, Electrical distribution systems, Splitter boxes and Feeder pillars.

Repair and Refurbishment

Several repair and refurbishment contracts are held, handling Lighting and Power Distribution systems (LAPDS), which provides a total network of distribution boxes and cables for any field operation, and containerised Field Laundry Units.

Contractor Logistic Support (CLS)

Other areas of specialist design and manufacture include the supply and fitting out of shelters and containers, electrical distribution systems, control boards, cable manufacture, feeder pillars, full installation and commissioning services, and a whole host of supplementary electro-mechanical work. Once the equipment is designed and manufactured, a full military-style Contractor Logistic Support (CLS) package can be offered, if required, whereby everything can be fully supported in operation, including servicing and repairs. CLS engineers are available under this cover on a 24 hour/day, 365-day/year basis, anywhere in the world.
