Comrod AS, a fully owned subsidiary of Comrod Communication ASA, based in Norway. It specialises in the designs & manufacture of marine and military VHF antennas, HF & UHF antennas, combined with VHF-GPS antennas, military masts, military power supplies, and battery chargers.

MILITARY ANTENNAS

The company provides advanced technology solutions to meet defence requirements, and supplies a comprehensive range of tactical mobile antennas suitable for man-packs, vehicles and transportable remote applications.

Comrod has collaborated extensively with end users around the globe in the development of HF, VHF and UHF antennas for defence applications. The result is a product line of sturdy broadband antennas for tactical applications, consisting of handheld, manpack, vehicle, base station and shipboard antennas. The line includes combined antennas for VHF/GPS, VHF/DECT, VHF/W-LAN, UHF/GPS, UHF/DECT and UHF/W-LAN. All antennas have been through full military testing for different programmes around the globe.

Comrod also deliver antenna systems for both vehicle and boat installations. The system is primarily designed to reduce the number of antennas on a single installation, and allows the simultaneous use of several radios to one transmit antenna, or to individual directional antennas. A receiver distribution amplifier is included to allow simultaneous reception on all receivers.

Communication antenna control system

Comrod sees an emerging market in the defence segment for communication antenna control systems. Demand is shifting towards more sophisticated solutions, comprising alternative forms of communication (HF, VHF, UHF, etc) using various broadband applications. Combined with tougher requirements/more need for installations onto the platform, this has led to an increasing demand for such systems worldwide.

A typical systems application is as follows. The antenna system comprises an active antenna combiner and an antenna selector switch. It is primarily designed to reduce the number of antennas in an installation, and allows the simultaneous use of several radios to one transmit antenna or to individual directional antennas. A receive distribution amplifier is included to allow multiple receivers at the same time.

HF ANTENNAS

Antennas are available for use on manpack radios, and vehicle-mounted and shipboard applications. Broadband tactical vee antennas for medium to long range skywave communications at fixed locations are also produced.

VHF ANTENNAS

A comprehensive product range covers all requirements for handheld manpack, vehicle, shipboard and static applications. Most antennas offer full broadband operation over the full VHF spectrum. High gain static antennas are also available.

COMBINED VHF-GPS ANTENNAS

The VHF-GPS antennas are based on our vehicle-born VHF antennas, but with a built-in military specification GPS active receiving antenna. Instead of using separate GPS and VHF communication antennas, the VHF-GPS will give you both with one base. This simplifies the installation and consequently reduces costs.

The GPS antennas will not be affected by the use of full transmitting power on VHF.

UHF ANTENNAS

Our UHF range covers monopoles and discones in the ground-air frequency spectrum, in addition to the high-gain narrow beamwidth antennas for multi-channel trunk links.

Tactical Masts, Telescopic & Sectional Masts.

Tactical masts for military use are one of the main product categories at Lerc SA, the company’s French subsidiary. All masts are manufactured at the company’s production facility in France. Lerc SA supplies telescopic, sleeve, man-pack, manual and motorised masts.

The company can also provide a complete antenna and mast system for rapid deployment. Key features of the mast products include easy maintenance, standard and tailormade versions, and advanced control systems for unmanned use of the masts.

Sleeve masts constitute the main product category in this segment. Lerc has superior expertise and a well-proven track record for calculating, designing and manufacturing masts, especially for large and heavy top-load applications.

POWER SUPPLIES AND BATTERY CHARGERS

The power division delivers power supply and battery chargers to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and has experience from more than 130 OEM projects worldwide. Power supply products are developed in close cooperation with the company’s customers and constructed to withstand rough environments.

Comrod offers engineering and manufacturing for battery chargers for lead-acid, NiCad and Li-Ion batteries with advanced applications and tailormade solutions to meet customer needs.
