DMS technologies has extensive experience of designing and manufacturing rechargeable power systems to meet the most stringent requirements. For many years we have supplied the military, both in the UK and overseas, with Slave Battery Packs for engine starting 24V and 12V vehicles and generators. Theses NATO-codified powerpacks are used for Armoured Fighting Vehicles, including ain battle tanks, trucks, construction vehicles as well as helicopters and aircraft.

Military Battery Packs

More recently, DMS technologies has delivered portable battery packs to the Royal Navy to provide power for the DillonAero MiniGun ship protection weapon. The MiniGun has a rate of fire of 3000 rounds per minute and the battery pack drives the barrels and ammunition feed. Prior to acceptance, the pack was put through a serious of operational and environmental tests to ensure that the most rigorous requirements were met. Important among the benefits of the battery pack is that the gun will still operate even if the ship’s power is lost.

Portable Remote Power

Such high power, rugged re-chargeable solutions will also benefit any other portable or demountable system including weapon systems, communications equipment, surveillance and monitoring systems. DMS technologies already produces portable remote power units for use with automated number plate recognition systems and other traffic control equipment, as well as providing added run-time for communications systems.

Our experience includes lithium, nickel metal hydride, nickel cadmium and lead acid battery technologies.

Military Charging Systems

No matter which battery chemistry is selected for a particular project, re-charging is an important consideration. Many systems can be simply charged from a mains power source, however where this is not possible then alternative methods are available. For those battery packs used in and around vehicles it is more convenient to use a vehicle alternator. But where the power is being used in more remote locations then alternative energy sources such as solar (photovoltaic) or wind turbine can be used.

DMS technologies has experience in the development of battery packs to be used in conjunction with solar or wind generator charging systems. Our design expertise also encompasses the supply of solar (photovoltaic) batteries and systems. We can provide both “off the shelf” and “bespoke solutions” to meet such requirements. These can be at any capacity you require and at various voltages with 6 and 12 Volts as standard. We provide full technical and sales support throughout the design process, for custom and standard applications.
