L-3 ESSCO Collins Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of L-3 ESSCO which was founded in 1961 and formerly known as Electronic Space System Corporation (ESSCO). The company was acquired by L-3 Communications Corporation of New York in 1998.

Military Radomes

The company specialises in the manufacture of ground-based radomes. It has expertise in system design and the verification of radome performance.

Military Ground Based Radomes

All types of radomes are produced including space frame radomes for high-frequency applications and sandwich radomes designed specifically for narrow frequency radars such as ATC single- or dual-phased monopulse beacon, phased-array and en route surveillance radar installations as well as weather radars and other systems. Advanced composite radomes and frequency selective surfaces are available for other applications.

Status/recent contracts

Supplier to major ATC radar manufacturers and national government agencies worldwide. Projects include TDWR, NEXRAD, ARSR-4 Mode-S upgrade and DASR programmes.

Civil ATC contracts during 2007/8 include: two radomes for Indra PSR/MSSR for AENA in Spain; two radomes for Thales PSR/MSSR for ATNS South Africa; two radomes for Indra MSSR for COCESNA in Belize and Honduras; five radomes for Thales MSSRs for IAA in Ireland; one radome for Thales MSSR in Croatia; one radome for Thales MSSR for ANS CR in the Czech Republic; eight radomes for Raytheon MSSRs and PSR/MSSR for Avinor in Norway; one radome for ATCBI-6 radar for FAA in the Bahamas; one radome for Raytheon PSR/MSSR for FAA in the US and one radome for Thales MSSR in Dubai.
