Line of Fire Inc – Non Ceramic Body Armour
Line of Fire Inc. aims to provide military and law enforcement personnel with greater protection from larger and specialised threats.
Non-Ceramic Body Armour Solution
Those responsible for the safety of the public and the safety of their people, they will do whatever they can to protect both. That means ensuring that they have what they need without compromising their own safety when facing dangerous situations. It is for this reason Line of Fire Inc. developed a new-generation of body armour for law enforcement and military personnel which addresses areas such as safety, durability, performance and comfort. Line of Fire raises the bar for personal protection, providing protection from maximum threats versus only meeting the minimum laboratory standards: Line of Fire meets the threats that dominate today’s environments with a design that outperforms in real-world situations.
Based in Canada, Line of Fire Inc. started as a small private research and development company that was challenged with a simple idea: how can we protect law enforcement and military personnel better?
“When we approached this challenge, the first thing we did was research the capabilities of current body armour technology,” explains company co-founder R. Lind. “At the time, we had to give current armour credit- it did exactly what it was supposed to do - save lives. What we were concerned about was that current body armour met minimal laboratory standards and specifications. The next critical question brought forward was, ‘what about all the other potential threats that law enforcement and military personnel faced especially larger hunting calibres or just the durability of the plates period?’ So the question became: Could we create an all encompassing solution that centered on maintaining the safety of the operator as well as maintaining functionality? ”
Armour developer D Schulte, adds: “We started with a blank page and a new design. We did not know where it would lead us since we were charting our own path in new territory. We did not want try and improve current technology, that’s being done already. We wanted to develop new technology...”
Setting a New Standard in Standardised Testing
While current technology can meet the minimum requirements set by standardised testing, issues arise when factors such as durability and secondary injuries caused by armour fragments are introduced. So with operator safety as the main objective and six years of research and engineering, the company produced a unique, non-ceramic system that incorporates a dynamic energy distribution design for defeating not only multiple low-calibre bullets shot in small groupings but assault rifle and high-calibre bullets as well. The system can provide greater protection against larger, specialised threats beyond those recognised by laboratory testing while maintaining weight and thickness requirements similar to conventional technologies. In the Line of Fire armour plates are highly durable, non-fragile, multi-hit, and reduce the amount of energy transferred to the operator with each subsequent ballistic strike. This allows the armour to stay in service longer, increasing operator confidence and mission success.
Multi-Hit. Non-Fragile. Confidence-Building
Line of Fire’s revolutionary non-ceramic systems set a new standard in terms of multi-hit capability with surpassed durability, erasing the need to replace plates that are mishandled or damaged during regular activity and eliminating secondary injuries caused from plate fragmentation. Working effortlessly with the individual, these new plates can provide the continued support that soldiers need from their equipment.
Line of Fire’s specialised assembly process is modular and automated. This adds to its versatility and flexibility to accommodate the needs of the operator.
Line of Fire also produces a specialised line of carriers and accessories that work seamlessly with its armour plates. Like other systems, their carriers were also designed with operator input. With the ability to customise for specialised needs, the result is a line of carriers that can be modified to fit the requirements of any organisation as well as maximising comfort and fit while providing personnel with the confidence needed to succeed.
“The real test of body armor is how it handles in actual combat situations. Line of Fire’s products are easier to carry, durable, and real world tested...I feel safer being protected by their products.”
