Christy Aerospace & Technology Ltd
The Christy Aerospace and Technology group of companies conduct a range of activities which include specialist consultancy and development of bespoke flying training and simulation software. They are also owners of the innovative data backup, encryption and copyright suite of software that includes SEFLok™ and PhotoLok™.
Flying Training and Simulation Software
As a supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence since 2005, the Company’s software has, uniquely, been 100% reliable since that date. As a highly flexible package, the courseware can be modified to suit any learning environment, including web-based, and can be used to support any aircraft type. With its in-depth technical detail, it can also be used for training of technical personnel.
Virtual Study Guide
Initially designed as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and development project in 2007, the Company’s Virtual Study Guide provides an interactive electronic alternative to traditional static text and picture-based study guides. By using the software, the student can have demonstrated all flying exercises within a given syllabus, under a full range of weather (and wind) conditions. Included is a full cockpit simulation of the student’s aircraft type, along with an option for a terrain database of relevant training area. The software operates comfortably on a standard laptop and can also be web-based.
Virtual Cockpit Trainer
The Company’s simulation software is centred around the Virtual Cockpit Trainer (VCT) system, a highly flexible and cost-
effective aircrew training device, that can be scaled within the same core engine to be used across a full range from desktop level device to full mission simulation. Utilising a unique architecture, flight and system models for new aircraft types and systems can be incorporated within rapid timeframes. It also has the added benefit of being able to integrate with external hardware and software, including terrain databases. It can incorporate both flying training courseware and the virtual study guide.
Flying Training Management
As experts in the field of flying training management, the Company can provide specialist personnel to support flying training operations, particularly military-related activities. This includes specialist advice on basing plans, alternative funding routes (PFI etc), syllabus design and airspace/airfield capacities to enable the user to optimise task and resources, and to thereby create and sustain a cost-effective operation.
Airshow Management Software
Within the Company’s software portfolio also resides their Airshow Management Software which has been used successfully to support a major international airshow with a 5 hour intense flying programme. The product can be used from the beginning of the planning phase to reduce workload and to aid dissemination of information, as well as ‘on-the-day’ to help the organisers schedule the display. This includes automatic re-scheduling when events require a change to the flying display programme. By reducing workload and enhancing management capabilities, a greater proportion of the organiser’s time and attention can be spent on supervision and safety aspects of the display event.
