Marshall Vehicle Engineering Ltd
Marshall Land Systems (MLS), headquartered in Cambridge, provides land systems capabilities. MLS specialises in rapid deployment and through-life capa¬bility management for military, counter terrorist and civil emergency operations. MLS provides full support to users in the UK and overseas.
MLS comprises of four companies and one joint venture:
•Marshall Specialist Vehicles (MSV), which provides protected workspace solutions such as field hospitals, workshops, command posts, control rooms and ground control stations in integrated and vehicle-borne shelters
•Marshall Vehicle Engineering (MVE), which provides protected logistics based on crew and load protection
•Marshall SDG (MSDG), which provides UGVs, UAV ground control stations, rapid solutions to urgent operational and capa¬bility requirements and capability development
•Marshall Fleet Solutions (MFS), which provides fleet management, customer-based main-tenance and repair solutions across multi-type vehicle and platform fleets
•MLS has recently embarked upon a joint venture agreement with Plasan; one of the world’s leading protection system providers. Incorporated within a sovereign UK registered company, the Joint Venture unites Plasan’s armouring and protection skills with MLS’s project management and platform integration capabilities.

Protected Logistics
MVE operates from a 12,800 square metre factory in Mildenhall which is a state of the art design and manufacturing facility. MVE’s design capability means they are the design authority for many vehicles, variants and ancillaries in service around the world. These include troop transport and recovery vehicles, specialist load beds and armoured protective systems for military logistic vehicles. MVE provide solutions that are designed, tested and fitted for all logistic applications on all chassis types; wheeled or tracked, light, medium or heavy.
Military Load Beds
MVE specialises in the design and manufacture of load beds for the volume production of cross country vehicles for the military and other specialist users. Employing the latest design and engineering techniques, MVE draws on over 60 years of experience in the production of specialist military vehicles. MVE uses the latest production techniques including robotic welding and e-dipping to maintain a constant programmed supply of high quality long life load beds to programme, quality and cost.
MVE’s main contract is the production of 6,700 load beds for the UK MoD’s support vehicle contract with MAN Vehicles UK. In this programme over 700 load cases had to be considered when designing the basic load bed and many more whereby crane and winch variants were involved. These support vehicles are the very latest in logistic support. MVE is the design authority for most of the variants and is involved with many new vehicle programmes in the UK and overseas. Delivery of the 3,500th completed vehicle recently occurred to
time cost and performance.
MVE works closely with Revolve, the current UK MoD supplier of Roll-Over Protection Seating (ROPS) systems. All MVE load beds are equipped with the appropriate interfaces to mount and secure the Revolve ROPS system. MVE can supply ROPS equipped load carrying systems fitted with the Revolve ROPS system if required.
Load Carrying Flat Racks Systems
Flat racks are the load carrying systems that can be preloaded and then hook loaded onto the carrying vehicle. By using flat racks pre loaded, vehicle loads can be stored ready for transportation. The UK was the first to adopt this revolutionary system and MVE provided the UK system called DROPS which completely changed the military logistics system. MVE remains at the forefront of flat rack design and manufacture making smaller, lighter, customised versions for many users. Similarly, hook loading can be used to move ISO containers. MVE works in conjunction with its sister company MSV to provide hook loaded containers.
