Radio Tactics Ltd www.radio-tactics.com, specialist innovator of high-tech digital evidence and intelligence gathering solutions has received the runner-up prize in this year’s Equipment Technology and Innovation (“ETI”) Awards.  The ETI Awards were launched six years ago by HOSDB and the Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers (“APPSS”), which is now part of ADS.

Radio Tactics was awarded this prize for developing Athena, a portable, robust handheld unit that enables undercover officers to rapidly extract and process communication and positioning information, call registers, SMS and social networking data from GPS, satellite handsets, phones and other portable devices.

Athena was designed to address the increasing use of mobile digital devices at every level of criminal activity for accessing, storing and sharing information and as a vital navigation tool.  Radio Tactics recognised that military and law enforcement agencies would benefit from the ability to quickly access intelligence from suspect devices in the field, obtaining identifiable intelligence at the point sources are encountered.  Athena is now being used by law enforcement agencies across the UK, including the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.

Andy Gill, CEO of Radio Tactics commented on the company’s achievement:

“On behalf of everyone at Radio Tactics I would like to say how proud we all are to have been selected as the runner up in the ETI Awards.  Our original mission when we established the company was to bring forensics out of the laboratory and onto the front line and developing Athena was a huge leap towards achieving this goal.  Our products are now being used in the field, empowering military and law enforcement operatives with real time, actionable intelligence.  We are honoured that among the many strong contenders for these awards we were ranked so highly.”

The ETI Awards were conceived in order to recognise the unparalleled capability of the UK industry to lead innovation in safeguarding the UK.  The winners were chosen by a panel of six expert judges, including representatives from HOSDB.  Radio Tactics was presented with the prize at a prestigious ceremony held at Farnham Castle.  The evening was attended by leading figures from the UK’s security industry, UKTI DSO, government and law enforcement agencies.

Radio Tactics can be found on stand B29 at the HOSDB exhibition, the UK’s premier platform for showcasing world leading technologies and solutions for law enforcement and public security applications.
