New G-Seat Demo Unveiled by Moog at I/ITSEC 2011

  • Date: 2nd December 2011
  • Company: Moog

Moog, a leading motion control expert and Reiser Systemtechnik GmbH, a provider of simulators, training systems and avionic test equipment, will feature a G-seat demonstration at the I/ITSEC 2011 Exhibition in Orlando, Florida. Held from November 28th to December 1st 2011, this exhibition it is one the world’s major modelling, simulation and training events.

G-Seats are fighter and helicopter pilot training systems that simulate positive and negative accelerations on the pilot body induced by aircraft movement in surge, sway and roll through the seat itself without the need for a 6 Degree of Freedom Motion system. G-Seats simulate positive and negative G-forces by changing the shape of the seat pan, altering the tension of the seat harness straps and raising or lowering the height of the seat bucket. The seat is controlled from its own control system which responds to real time software via Ethernet.

Located in Moog booth No 1720, the G-Seat demonstration model is one of the first outcomes of a partnering agreement the two companies signed in 2011 to jointly develop and manufacture new G-Seat products to match highly specific customer requirements.

The teaming agreement combines both companies’ extensive and highly complementary expertise in this application. Moog brings its know-how in the development of motion cueing and control loading systems, including the development of G-Seats. Reiser Systemtechnik, based in Berg, Germany brings its experience and capabilities in the design, development and manufacture of mechanical and electronic components and systems for aerospace and automotive simulation including facsimile ejection and crashworthy seats.

“The G-Seat demonstration reflects what we can accomplish together with Reiser and we are delighted to give pilots the opportunity to test it during the show,” said William Opie, Market Manager of Moog. “Our diverse yet complementary knowledge and capabilities make for an ideal partnership to jointly develop G-Seat products and technology that meet our customers’ most demanding needs.”
