Troops stationed at many bases in the Middle East find relief from those 100+ degree temperatures thanks to Port-A-Cool® portable evaporative cooling units. Designed and manufactured in Texas, Port-A-Cool units are used at military base camps, gyms, chow halls, and commissaries all over the globe, allowing troops to escape the sweltering desert heat.

The dry, arid weather in Iraq, Afghanistan and other Middle East countries provides a perfect climate for the use of evaporative cooling. Evaporative cooling technology very simply uses a natural process of water evaporation and moving air. When fresh, dry air is pulled through wet or moist pads inside the unit, the moisture evaporates, thus cooling the air as a large fan expels it. The result can be an outside temperature decrease of as much as 30 degrees.

U.S. Troops in countries other than the Middle East, including the United States, are also reaping the cooling benefits of Port-A-Cool units. The United States Army, Marines, and Air Force currently use Port-A-Cool units on bases to keep troops cool during both work and play.
