Security specialists land aviation search order

A major international UK-based airline has called on the skills of a Horsham anti-terrorist specialist to safeguard the security of its new transatlantic aircraft.

Strings Security will develop a security search plan for the airline’s Airbus 330 passenger planes, ready for their delivery to the Gatwick-based carrier early next year.

“We last worked with the airline several years ago, when we developed a security search programme for others of their Airbus fleet,” says Roger Ings, the company’s founder, “so I’m delighted that they require our specialist input once more at what is a critical time for airline security worldwide.”

Only last month, anti-terrorism measures foiled a plot to plant bombs, fashioned from old ink cartridges, on aircraft flying international routes.

Meanwhile, some carriers have stepped up their drive to remove security measures such as shoe searches at airport departure points.

“We’ll be providing a modular plan for the airline, which will enable flight deck and cabin crew to search differing areas of the aircraft for any unidentified objects or packages.

The search plan is designed to come into effect in the event of an aircraft having to make an emergency landing in remote regions where the full facilities of an international airport may not be to hand, he added.
