Rubber Runflats for Any Size Wheel at Eurosatory from Tyron

Tyron shows the only range of multi-piece rubber runflats in Hall 5 on stand K617

Multi-piece Rubber Runflats

The only range of multi-piece run flats which can be fitted and removed with standard tyre equipment are on display in Hall 5 on the Tyron stand, K617, during Eurosatory 2014.

At the heart of the stand is the latest multi-piece all terrain rubber run flat, the ATR range, designed for large armoured fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery.  These have been extensively tested to demonstrate that the tyres stay firmly in place and enable the vehicle to be driven at speed for a considerable distance after sudden deflation of one or all caused, for example, by direct fire or blast attack.

“The Tyron range can be fitted to any size of wheel giving peace of mind to the driver and vehicle commander knowing that the tyres will not stop them getting out of an ambush killing  zone quickly and safely,” said Richard Glazebrook, Chief Executive of Tyron Developments.

The Tyron Multiband HD first entered service with the UK Ministry of Defence over 30 years ago.  During this period it has undergone updating and is now used throughout the world of security and defence forces and is NATO part numbered.  The Multiband is designed so that a mechanic can fit or remove the tyre in minutes, even beside the road.  It enables the vehicle to travel up to 20km before needing replacement, plenty of distance to get out of an ambush situation.

The Tyron R4 and R6 All Terrain Rubber runflat are not only multi-piece units but have also been ballistically tested.  The R4 has a double beadlock designed alloy wheel with a load rating of 1600kg and a guaranteed high level off road flat tyre performance which is not possible with standard tyres.

The R6 is a split rim design for buses, cash carrying and similar vehicles, which have twin rear wheels.  Like the R4 it enables the vehicle to continue with two or more tyres deflated safely for some distance at a reasonable speed.

Both the R4 and R6 can be driven evasively with all tyres shot out for a minimum of 50km at 50kph.
