Remote Ocean Systems
The Pathfinder™
Remote Ocean Systems, a leader in Pan and Tilt systems for Military, Deep Ocean and Commercial applications has introduced our new Pathfinder, a state-of-the art positioner that offers 360 degree continuous pan axis rotation and is designed for use with ground based UAV tracking applications. The Pathfinder has high powered brushless stepper motors that provide high torque and built-in encoders with an accuracy of +/-0.1 degree. The Pathfinder has a payload capacity of 100 lbs. (45kg) Designed with Harmonic Drive gears, the Pathfinder offers key advantages such as high reduction ratios in a single stage, zero backlash and high precision functionality. The ethernet communication protocol has less than 2ms latency with an acceleration rate of 30 degrees per second.
In recent years the necessity of UAV detection and tracking, capable of detecting and tracking small, fast and agile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s) has become evident as numerous incidents illustrate the growing threat to public safety and infrastructure. UAV detection is generally performed in a multi-spectral manner, combining various sensor technologies: like radar, radio frequency, acoustics, GPS, inclinometer and electro-optics. The Pathfinder is a part of this platform that allows precise positioning in two axes: rotation up and down in a vertical plane and left and right in horizontal plane, rotating in 360 degrees. The Pathfinder may be connected to a wide range of UAV antenna systems, (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) sensors and payloads as well as those found in counter drone systems. These devices may include video and thermal cameras, antennas, laser rangefinders, radars and weapon systems.
Pan-Tilt systems can provide a limited angle of motion to rotate through or may use integrated sliprings to provide continuous 360- degree rotation. They may be connected to a computer to provide real-time control via serial (RS-4850 OR VIA Ethernet and come can be controlled remotely via the Internet.
Pan -Tilt Software
Pan-Tilt software comes standard with ROS Helios Graphical User Interface (GUI). The Pathfinder also has the ability for building command structure so that end users can develop their own graphical interface. Control of the system may include the ability to specify speed of motors, velocity of rotation and torque output.
About Remote Ocean Systems (ROS)
Remote Ocean Systems is a proven leader in Pan & Tilt Positioners for shallow and deep- sea research exploration and nuclear fuel pool inspection for more than 50 years. We have used this technology and expertise in developing a ground- based positioner specifically designed for but not limited to UAV tracking and detection. The Pathfinder is designed for use in commercial, government and defense markets for area and asset protection, national border security, homeland security and critical infrastructure protection such as oil and gas facilities, coastal surveillance and military applications.
