AEI Systems lead the SYS Group presence at IAV 2026 with British designed and engineered VENOM LR and integrated medium-calibre firepower solutions
AEI Systems, the British medium-calibre gun specialist and a core company of SYS Group, will take part in the International Armoured Vehicles Conference (IAV 2026), taking place on 20–22 January in Farnborough, United Kingdom. IAV is the highly influential forum for the global armoured vehicle community.
IAV brings together the most respected armoured vehicle manufacturers, system integrators and military decision-makers worldwide. The focus of the conference is on the future of land warfare including platform survivability, lethality and rapid capability integration. The participation of AEI Systems reflects the SYS Group’s growing role in delivering integrated, combat-ready firepower solutions for modern land platforms.
VENOM LR - A British engineered gun solution for next-generation armoured platforms
At the centre of the presence of AEI Systems will be the 30x113mm VENOM LR, a 100% British-engineered medium-calibre revolver gun designed to meet the evolving requirements of current and future armoured vehicle programmes.
VENOM LR is recognised as having the lowest-recoil system in the gas-operated, high-rate revolver class of weapon. It features an adjustable rate of fire, enabling accurate single-shot engagement or sustained fire up to very high cyclic rates. The low recoil characteristics make it particularly well suited for integration onto a wide range of armoured vehicles and RWS platforms where stability and system survivability are critical.
The VENOM LR is an ITAR free product and continues to attract strong international interest, positioning it as a benchmark solution for nations seeking agile, effective, and future-ready land firepower.
The integrated SYS Group firepower portfolio on display
In addition to AEI Systems, the SYS Group stand will feature key capabilities from its sister companies:
- CANiK, recognised as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of 12.7x99mm heavy machine guns, will showcase their combat-proven M2, M2F, and M3 heavy machine gun family—widely trusted by armed forces worldwide.
- UNIROBOTICS will present the TRAKON 30 Remote Weapon Control System (RWS), developed specifically to integrate the VENOM LR, offering a fully stabilised RWS solution optimised for modern armoured and unmanned platforms.
Together, these systems demonstrate the SYS Group’s ability to deliver complete, interoperable firepower solutions, from weapon to remote system integration, tailored to the needs of today’s armoured vehicle operators.
Leadership perspective
Simon Angel, Managing Director of AEI Systems, commented:
“IAV is the most important international platform for the armoured vehicle community and it is the ideal environment to demonstrate what British engineering can deliver when combined with the scale and integration capability of SYS Group.
VENOM LR has been designed from the outset to offer powerful, adaptable and easy to maintain firepower solution for modern land platforms. When paired with UNIROBOTICS’ TRAKON 30 RWCS and complemented by CANiK’s globally proven heavy machine guns, we are presenting a coherent and highly capable solution set that directly addresses the operational challenges discussed at IAV.”
