Award Winning Thermal Weapon Sight Equipment from Qioptiq

After Qioptiq successfully launched its Dragon Thermal weapon sight range with Dragon-C (Compact) and Dragon LR (Long Range), and broadened its offering in Image Intensified Night Vision with the Merlin family of sights adding to the existing KITE range, both product families have gone from strength to strength.

Thermal Weapon Sights

2011 saw the launch of three more members of the Dragon family at the Soldier Technology Conference in London. Dragon SR (Short Range), Dragon MR (Medium Range) and Dragon S (Sniper). These will satisfy the varying requirements of the modern warfighter by providing the most appropriate size, weight & power combination.

DRAGON SR, DRAGON MR and DRAGON S can be adapted for use on a variety of weapons mounting to either a Picatinny or NATO rail. DRAGON delivers a capability to detect man and vehicle targets 24 hours a day, even in poor visibility, in total darkness and through battlefield obscurants. All offer low power, high performance in a ruggedised military design utilising the latest in uncooled thermal camera, electronics and optical technologies to deliver world leading performance and reliability.

Dragon C (Compact) Light Weight Thermal Weapon Sight

Previously Dragon C (Compact) had won “Best new light weight soldier technology” now the new Dragon SR (Short Range), MR (Medium Range) and S (Sniper) won “Best Lightweight Products” in the face of stiff competition.

DRAGON C is primarily designed to be used as an in line “Clip On” thermal weapon sight, allowing the User to retain his existing day sight on the weapon without affecting zero. Dragon-C is also at home in its stand alone role. It has proved to be very effective when mounted on SMG, combat shot gun or other weapon systems with a very short picatinny rail. Due to the removable eye cup it is possible to use the sight at greater distance from the eye than is traditional of a TWS, allowing acquisition times to be reduced and engagements to take place with both eyes open.

Uncooled Thermal Weapon Sights

DRAGON LR represents the other end of the spectrum from the DRAGON C. Yet again size, weight & power have been traded carefully in the design process striking the right balance and making Dragon LR perfect for section level & heavy support weapons looking to operate out past the 2km range.

Image Intensified Night Vision Sights

An Infra Red Laser Aimer can be integrated, along with the ability to control fully the sight from a remote location (such as the weapon handguard/softmount etc) via the use of full I/O (Input-Output) capability.
