High Density 38999 Military Connectors (HD38999)

The HD38999 family of connectors was designed to work with existing milspecified 38999 shells. To the end users familiar with standard 38999 connectors, this family of high density connectors will look, feel, and perform just like the mil-qualified connectors. Utilizing an existing mil-qualified 39029 size 23 contact and mil-qualified shells, the new system is usually a drop-in connector. Heavy Duty Brushless Alternators

Our Standard products range starts at 140A and goes up to 910A and can be supplied as either 14V, 28V or in dual voltage format. There is a wide variety of mounting methods and drive systems and this reflects the numerous military vehicles powered by our alternators.

CEN alternator design favours a stationary field coil which eliminates the need for brushes and slip rings that wear and need periodic replacement thus providing the highest reliability, serviceability and durability in heavy-duty arduous applications... Their elimination greatly reducing the amount of generated electromagnetic interference (EMI). 

Being air cooled also simplifies the installation, reduces cost and minimises the parts count.

C.E Niehoff’s high efficiency alternators reduce the power required from the engine to produce  electrical power, this saves fuel and makes more engine power available for other purposes. C E Niehoff alternators generate less waste heat, provide higher charging currents at low engine speeds and operate at 70% efficiency, compared to 50% or less for a typical claw pole alternator.

Dual-voltage operation, over voltage cut-out, load-dump protection, reverse polarity protection, EMI suppression and the ability to meet Military Standards makes CEN  the market leader. Many of the above features are available in our commercial alternators that operate in the equally arduous world of Emergency Service vehicles, Mining and Public Transportation. Regulators/Electrical Power Supply

Every C E Niehoff Alternator is supplied with a regulator that can be set to match the battery charging characteristics or work several alternators together. The more advanced regulators can link main engine systems to APU’s via J1939 communications creating an integrated vehicle electrical system.

Power Management and Battery Monitoring Systems

CEN’s Electrical Power Manager (EPM) is a multi-function device that consists of high-current, bi-directional switches, with programmable electric power source to respond to vehicle operating conditions, electric load status and various fault conditions. Its features include:

• Solid-state automatic battery connect and disconnect
• Protected 28V and 14V auxiliary output power
• Automatic reverse-polarity protection for vehicle loads
• LED diagnostics
• Automatic battery-less operation when used with a compatible voltage regulator
• Battery information such as voltage and charge current
• Capable of communication with other vehicle digital systems via J1939 data bus

Systems using multiple alternators can be designed to operate with a single regulator providing over 2000A and communicate with the vehicle management system using the EPM.

Other systems include the Auxiliary Battery Controller (ABC), an intelligent, programmable battery isolator - isolates the main battery and auxiliary battery from the alternator and starter, making them independent power sources.

The Load Battery Control Device (LBCD) enables an energized operating alternator to generate power for vehicle electrical loads without requiring a battery in the circuit (battery-less operation). The device has the capability to recharge a designated number of batteries or energy storage capacitors at a different voltage to that of the vehicle electrical system voltage.

Service Repair

All our products are fully supported by our repair and rebuild facility which can provide routine maintenance, accident repairs or damage investigations. The team also provides a training facility for our Customers to ensure they maximize the reliability of their electrical power supply systems and minimise vehicle or system down time.

Comrod Communication Group

Comrod Communications Group design and manufacture military antennas and antenna systems, tactical support masts, military power supplies and battery chargers to the defence communications market.

Military Vehicle Antennas

The Comrod range of military vehicle antennas are designed for use on modern in-service platforms including armoured or soft skin, metal chassis or composite, wheeled or tracked.

Tactical antennas cover the military frequency bands of HF, VHF, UHF and L1/L2 GPS.  Comrod also has an extensive range of wideband and multiband antennas covering both VHF and UHF in the 30-2500 MHz band. 

High power antennas are available which are suitable for both military communications and IED jamming applications.

Military Manpack Antennas

The Comrod range of tactical manpack antennas are suitable for handheld and man-portable applications covering HF, VHF and UHF frequency bands (1.6MHz to 2500MHz).

Consultation with Radio OEMs and users enables us to optimise the product to meet the customer’s specific requirement.

Manpack antennas can be supplied using helical, tape or folding whip construction and are available with a flexible gooseneck or spring assembly and antenna matching unit (AMU). 

Variants are also available with integrated GPS antennas.

Tactical Base Station Antennas

Comrod has an extensive range of tactical ground and remote antennas covering the HF, VHF and UHF frequency bands up to power ratings of 1KW.

The military specification HF ranges of products include omni-directional antennas with ground planes and HF broadband wire dipole antennas covering 2-30MHz.

In the VHF band we have elevated omni-directional end fed antennas with ground planes as well as elevated centre fed antennas.

For directional point to point and line of sight communications we have log periodic antennas in the 30-88MHz and 30-512MHz bands and for wide area networks we have a radio relay antennas covering band 1, band 3+ and band IV frequencies in both grid and dish configurations.

All tactical base station antenna products can be supplied with adaptors to fit the Comrod series of military support masts.

Telescopic, Sectional and Sleeve Masts

 

Comrod has a complete range of tactical support masts from lightweight manpack up to heavy duty motorised versions. The tactical man-pack mast range is simple to erect, cost effective and ideally suited for light omni-directional and wire antennas up to 9metres in height. The ULM and MLV sleeve tripod masts are primarily ground mounted systems ideally suited for heavier head loads, elevating tactical base station antennas including line of sight antennas up to 40metres. 

The composite telescopic push up mast series can be used to elevate light head loads up to 12 metres and be ground or vehicle mounted. The pneumatic telescopic mast series is constructed of aluminium sections and is erected using a foot-pump or compressor. It is ideally suited to supporting our tactical base station antennas up to heights of 18 metres.

The winch driven composite telescopic mast series is suited to supporting heavier head loads up to heights of 34 metres.
This series can be ground mounted or vehicle mounted using vehicle specific brackets.

J Series Side Mounted Large Screen Display Systems

This quarter’s featured product is the J Series Side Mounted Large Screen Display System. It is the newest addition to the DRASH Deployable Command and Control Equipment.

 

The purpose of the J Series Side Mounted Large Screen Display System is to increase mobility throughout DRASH shelters by eliminating the need to set up DC2E along the shelters' width. Instead, the new Side Display System posts on the shelters' length. Such a design enables personnel and equipment to move freely throughout the length of a DRASH shelter without restriction. The new design also allows military personnel to connect various shelters as needed to increase the size of the overall system.

Rapid Military Deployable Shelter Systems

DRASH Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelters are the epitome of quick and efficient soft walled technology. Superior protective elements and reliable features are what make these shelters so functional and unique. All shelters are rapidly deployable and structured with an advanced, highly flexible composite material called Titanite®. The shelter’s frame is comprised of pairs of Titanite® struts that connect at key points in the framework called hubs. These hubs allow for rapid deployment, as they enable the entire shelter to be pushed up and out swiftly without additional assembly.  The shelter comes pre-attached with a double layer of Xytex, a high-tech fabric that provides insulation from hot and cold temperatures.  The specially coated fabric is fire retardant, water repellant and resistant to mildew, abrasion and ultraviolet rays.

 

DRASH Shelters come in a variety of sizes and divide into separate categories according to their width.  Beginning with the smallest C Series shelter, at 109 square ft. (2.3 meters) and ending with the largest J Series shelter, at 1,250 square ft. (116 meters), the range in size accommodates a diversity of client needs.  In addition, every shelter is easily connectable to any other shelter regardless of the series or model.
A key component to the DRASH Shelter System is the Utility Support Trailer (UST).  A UST is an integrated support system designed to provide mobility, power and or environmental control for all DRASH shelters.  USTs come in various models, tailoring to the energy needs of every mission. Depending on the model, a UST comes equipped with a generator and/or ECU. Models that are equipped with ECUs enable the shelters to function in harsh climates. Some trailers incorporate a new energy efficient Intelligent Power Technology (IPT), while other trailers have traditional analog systems.  All trailers are operable in rough terrain, and are easily towable by military vehicles.    
Every element within a DRASH Shelter System has undergone rigorous testing to meet all Military Standard Requirements.

Intelligent Power Technology™ - IPT

Interconnectable Trailer-Mounted Generators

Intelligent Power Technology (IPT) is a reflection of DHS’s effort toward creating energy efficient products. The DRASH IPT enables users to interconnect various trailer-mounted generators to form a micro grid of networked power.

 

When activated, each generator responds to real time power demands. The system is self-adjusting but users have the ability to monitor activity from inside the Tactical Operations Center.  Because IPT responds to the user’s power needs, it eliminates wasted energy expenditure in unoccupied areas of the shelter. Having, IPT reduces unused energy, which ultimately minimizes unnecessary fuel costs.

Deployable Command and Control Equipment (DC2E)

DRASH Deployable Command and Control Equipment (DC2E) encompasses projector systems, audio visual switching systems and system accessories , all designed to facilitate information management on the battlefield. 

 

DC2E equipment is portable and lightweight so setting up and dismantling requires minimal time and few personnel.  Front/Rear Projection Systems are available with Medium, Large, and now Side Mounted Screen Displays. Audio Visual Systems include Mini, Small, Medium and Large variants.  An Intelligent Data Distribution System, Microphone System, Clock System, IPT Remote Monitor and Tactical Utility Field Furniture are additional accessories that complete the DC2E line.
